Fellow XWARNer's:

Here is your Wavelengths newsletter for May 2019:

http://bit.ly/2HknQCc

Sorry this month's Wavelengths is really late. It was an especially bad
month in many ways. I had one unexpected funeral to attend in NJ, I had to
fill in for a colleague at a flight test, and I just found out I have to
travel to NJ again for another funeral all in the last 2-3 weeks. I will
make sure to have paper copies at the meeting so that we can vote on the
minutes.

I'm told at least several people are having problems with the email
reflector. If I'm around at the meeting, that is not traveling for the
funeral, I will attempt to fix the problems. I know Jim Beller has been
having issues. If I'm not around, then I would appreciate someone
compiling a list for me. Either I or Josh Long will take of it after the
meeting.

I'm told Hamvention T-shirts will be available at club prices at Monday's
meeting. I'm also told to remember to volunteer for T-shirts sales if you
can. If I don't have to leave for NJ right away, meaning I will be at the
meeting, I will have a credit card option for payment through Square - old
magnetic stripe, chip, or NFC with Android or Apple Pay should all work.
The only drawback is that Square takes 2.75% similar to Paypal for
membership dues. The benefits are that we don't have to have large piles
of cash laying around at Hamvention and I set it up with a store where you
can ring up products and quantities and it does the totals for you and
provides a receipt via email to the customer.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I will not be around for Hamvention due
to the funeral although I'm still waiting for the details. If someone
wants to give credit card payments a go at Hamvention, please let me know
and I will show you how to use it. You either need a smart phone or tablet
with some sort of internet connection, either cell or WiFi. For the
magnetic stripe reader, you'll need a 3.5mm headphone jack with microphone
input - 4 metal rings instead of 3 aka tip-ring-ring-sleeve. Of course, if
I'm around and the powers that be want to give the credit option a try, I
will take that on.
