Please read below. Dayton Skywarn will be having an informal activation
tomorrow due to the entire state being under a Winter Weather Warning. The
XWARN repeater won't be on informal activation just yet; however, I am able
to monitor it all day tomorrow. Call me there, if necessary, to report any
significant weather activity and I will update if the situation
changes. 147.165+ pl 123.0

Subject: [Mocopt] FW: Informal Dayton Skywarn / ARES Activation for Monday
2/15
To: <mocopt at bellbrookarc.org>

Good Evening!

We (Dayton Skywarn) plan to have an informal activation tomorrow, Monday
2/15. The ENTIRE state of Ohio is under a Winter Storm Warning. Preliminary
forecast has total snowfall anywhere from 6"-12" of snow for West Central
Ohio. This will bring moderate to major impacts for our area.

There will be 2 rounds of snow. This first round will begin tonight into
the overnight hours (1am-9am). Snow amounts of 1-3" are possible. The
second round will occur Monday during the evening rush hour to late night
(5pm-11pm) then taper down though the night. Snow amounts from 5-9" are
possible. Snowfall rates of 1" per hour are possible during this time and
there could also be some blowing and drifting, reduced visibility, to near
blizzard conditions at times as a north wind from 20-30mph will also be
possible. This will make travel difficult.

We will do an informal activation on 146.64- MHZ throughout the day to take
reports of snow totals. We will go to a more constant net for the evening
time frame. Montgomery County EMA is requesting information on road
conditions, damage reports, power outages, etc. We will also monitor for
stranded motorist or request for help and information during this time as
well.

Another round is expected on Thursday....

See the attachments on how to accurately measure snowfall. Here are the
winter reporting criteria:

* 1" or more of snow per hour.
* When first measuring 2", 4", 6", etc of snow. (every additional 2"
of snow)
* Storm total snowfall depth. (Give duration of event, I.E. from 12pm
to 6pm)
* Any freezing rain or freezing drizzle.
* Any thunder or lightning associated with winter precipitation.
