Mid-East Challenge—Cross Country Invitational
Saturday 18 November 2023
10:30 am - Noon

Indian Riffle Park in Kettering. Elite runners from Ohio and neighboring
states.

Two races. 11am and 1130.  Arrive at the park a 1/2 hour before the
first event.

We will relay to the anouncer the times and the states for the first
three runners at Mile 1 and Mile 2. It takes two or three sets of eyes
to do this. If we get enough volunteers, we will add a few safety
spotters to a couple of challenging spots on the course. Bring a notepad
to jot down the runner times.

We will plan to use the Montgomery Simplex tactical frequency of 146.415
with the Greene Simplex tactical frequency of 147.555 as backup.

We usually meet for breakfast before the event. More details will be
provided to the volunteers who sign up.

This is one of the last events for 2023. On Thanksgiving morning is the
Miamisburg Turkey Trot (5 Miler), but Jack KM8N tells me that his roster
is full. If you wish to get involved, check with Jack at triton48 at woh.rr.com

In past years, we have supported the Resolution Run on New Year's Eve,
but this event seems to have faded into history. If anything changes, I
will send out a message.

I expect that the first event for 2024 will be the Xenia Marathon on the
first Sunday in April.

The best place to see notifications of upcoming events in the
Dayton/Miami Valley region is the District 3 ARES website:
ohd3ares.org

I also have a mail list for people who wish to receive notifications of
events that I know about. Send a message to AFM.Hams at gmail.com and ask
to be added to the events notification list.

Also, send me a message if you would like to get involved in the Greene
County Amateur Radio Emergency Service. We have a weekly net Tuesdays at
2100 local time on the 146.91 (-offset) repeater (except the fourth
Tuesday, 442.725, +offset). We have in-person meetings on the Last
Monday of the month (except December and a few others when conflicts
arise--check GCARES.net) at 7PM in the training room at BTFD Station 61.
