Unfortunately, neither our communications trailer nor the BAT will be part of our exhibit (although the BAT may be there also). The trailer is in use now through Sunday and again next Saturday for two events. There is no practical way to get the trailer in place after Saturday, July 27, and no way to get it out again until Sunday, August 3. Having the comm trailer at the fair would mean it couldn’t be used for the events the next two weekends.

We will instead have our new equipment and storage trailer, two 8’ tables, two (maybe three) Easy-Ups, the handouts we have used in the past, and whatever items people bring to set up demonstrations. I’ll get the trailer in place on Saturday. I plan to bring some gear to have at least some radio capability on site. Not sure exactly what we’ll be able to do without any of our usual infrastructure, but it should be akin to a Field Day station without the long HF dipoles, HTs, maybe a couple of computer monitors, etc.

Great ideas welcome!! Anything we can do to draw in some of the younger fair participants to ham radio is great.

I plan to be there most of the week. I also have three Courtesy Pass tickets for those who would like to help staff the exhibit. Please let me know if you plan to be there and when. Technically, I think each pass is supposed to be issued to one person for the week, but I’ve never seen anyone check to see if the name matches anything. I plan to have at least one radio up on the XWARN repeater. If you don’t have a pass and want to get into the fair, call me there or on 937-212-9420. Bring chairs and whatever else you can set up to make the exhibit interesting!

73,

Mark Avery, KE8NHT
