XWARN friends:

I discovered that many members of the GCARES mail list did not get the
letter that appears, below. Since many XWARN members are also GCARES
members, I am forwarding the letter to the XWARN reflector.

There is also a request for volunteers to help with the Mid East Challenge.

If you have no interest in ARES, please disregard and I apologize for
the intrusion.

Bob Baker N8ADO AUXC

Greene County Emergency Coordinator

GCARES in person meeting is Monday, October 28, 7 PM

We will meet at 7:00 PM in the Township Training Room in the lower level
of BTFD Station 61 (2195 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek 45434, West end of
the complex, lower level near the Sheriff's substation).

For those of you who have completed the AUXCOMM class offered by
DHS-CISA and wish to pursue completion of the Position Task Book for
AUXC, there is an opportunity to join a class to work towards that goal:

https://www.blackswancomex.org/net/auxc

Registration closes very soon, so act quickly if you want to
participate. The first class is Sunday, November 3.

Ohio Section ARES will hold a Conference on Saturday, Nov 2. Here is the
link for more info. Scroll down to pages 14, 15.

The Mid East Challenge, a cross country invitational race for the elite
runners from Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, has requested ham radio
volunteers to report lead runner information to the announcer. The event
takes place on Saturday, November 16. The first race starts at 1100 and
the second at 1130. I usually coordinate this event, but I expect to be
out of town that day and I am seeking someone to be the on-scene
coordinator. n8ado at woh.rr.com

Don't forget that GCARES has a pair of weekly nets:

Tuesdays at 9 PM on the 146.91 (-) (no PL) repeater, except on the
fourth Tuesday when we use 442,725 (+) (no PL)

We start with a voice net and follow with a digital net using fldigi
MT63-2000L. Neither net tends to last very long, so spend a few minutes
and check them out.

Also, we could use more net control operators, either regularly
scheduled or occasional. It is good training.

73,

Greene County ARES Emergency Coordinator
