Wednesday, March 18, is the Ohio Statewide Tornado Drill. We will have a
training net beginning at 9:50 AM on the 147.165 (+offset, PL=123.0)
repeater. All amateur radio operators are encouraged to check in.

Since the net takes place when many are scheduled to be at work, we will
open the net with short time check-ins so that you can take a quick break
to participate and you won't be away from the workplace for very long.

73,
Bob Baker N8ADO
GCARES EC

Background Information Regarding the Greene County Net:

We conduct a Greene County Weather Net to collect reports from weather
spotters. Those reports are then relayed to Dayton Skywarn which then
relays the information to the National Weather Service office at Wilmington
OH.

Net name is Greene County Severe Weather Net
Normal Frequency is 147.165 (+offset, PL=123.0)
Back-up is 147.045 (+, 118.8)

Severe Weather is considered to be indicated by the following conditions:

1. Tornadoes, funnel clouds, or rotating wall clouds.
2. Hail in excess of one half inch. Please report size in inches.
3. Wind gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour or more.
4. Flooding of streams, creeks, or rivers out of their banks.
5. Roads, or streets made impassable due to water, especially if the water
is moving.
6. Downed healthy trees, large branches, or power lines.
7. Extreme rainfall (greater than one inch per hour).

Do not report lightning, moderate rainfall, or clearing skies.

If conditions warrant and the Dayton Skywarn net is active, anyone can call
up the Greene County net and act as net control. Ask for a station to act
as Skywarn liaison to relay reports to W8OK on 146.64 (+,123.0).
