Hi,

Jim Dean, W8UD, and I have successfully set up the Wires-X node on the BARC
440 repeater. This repeater will continue to support analog FM and digital
System Fusion, but will now provide access to the Wires-X network through
System Fusion. Wires-X allows you to talk around the world through your
local repeater using crystal clear digital voice. There are Wires-X rooms
set up that you can visit to meet with people. Usually these are accessed
by simply sending a DTMF code for the room or simply selecting from a
search list if your transceiver is Wires-X capable.

The BARC 440 repeater is at 443.6750+ with no CTCSS tone required for you
to transmit. It is strongly recommended that you set up your analog FM
transceiver to decode the 118.8 Hz to receive a transmission from the
repeater. This will ensure that you do not hear the annoying digital signal
when it hits the repeater.

Instructions for using Wires-X will be available soon on the BARC website
at http://www.bellbrookarc.org. Until then, Google is your friend!

Thanks!
